Serge Nakauchi Pelletier, multi-instrumentiste et principal compositeur du groupe, fait ses débuts sur la scène musicale montréalaise dans les années 90 avec la formation Pop-punk Men’O’Steel. Près de 10 ans (et plusieurs projets musicaux) plus tard, il donne naissance à quelques titres instrumentaux dans le cadre d’une exploration réunissant images et musiques.

Pawa Up First started out as a recording project a few years back and has since then evolved into a quintet mainly comprised of piano/synth, guitar, bass, drums and percussion with occasionnal collaborators including a horn section, guest vocalists and MCs. Influenced by elements of jazz, dub, electro, hip hop, indie rock and cinematic music, Pawa Up First creates a wide range of atmospheres and dynamics with its instrumental repertoire and video projections.
